There is someone better, but maybe you have actually found that person, that "someone better"

If you and this guy are close friends, maybe it's best that you just be open with him about your feelings, and play it from there. This way, you'll also find out how he feels, and you won't have to keep bottling up how you feel. If you're worried about jeopardising the friendship, sharing your feelings about him is the true test of how strong your friendship really is. Also, I wouldn't settle for someone else until you've gotten him off your mind, because otherwise it's not fair.

Never settle. If he was the one for you, you'd know it. If he's already a friend of yours then maybe you should just keep it that way. Nothing ruins friendship faster than a relationship gone bad. I recently lost a very good friend because of a failed attempt at a relationship. It's not worth it. The right one will come along as soon as you stop looking for him.

Yes it is. Sometimes they are right in front of your face but you just never realised it before. You won't have to settle for someone you like less than him. You will find someone that you like just as much or better. Keep looking, you'll find him.

People who always hold out for something better end up alone. I have several friends who are in their late 30's and single because they always hold out for 'perfect'.

That does not mean 'settle' for someone. But, it sounds like you feel you can be happy with this person. And, that is certainly someone worth going for. (Plus, 'perfect' almost never really works out as 'perfect').

There is always someone better IF you keep looking. If you are content with the person then just enjoy it.

If he doesn't like you...then you are settling for him if you don't find someone else who DOES like you.

that "there is always someone better" kinda statement is something i cant really accept. relationship should not be based on what you expect from your partner but on how you accept him as person as he accept you too. that 'better' is only a consolation sweetie...
you should move on, look for real love and embrace it...
