I'm sure that they'll try.

Good question, but honestly I doubt they would even try on that basis. Especially given the negative sentiment which has occurred with recent attempts to smear the military in general by people like John Kerry. It would be extremely difficult to attack the service record of a man who was a POW. I also do not doubt that Mr. McCain would release all of his service records for review unlike some others who have run for the office and appear to have something to hide.

He's a media darling. The left won't touch his military service because he was a POW. On the other side, the right will lambast him for being a political opportunist. Remember the McCain/Feingold campaign finance reform bill? It carried with it a provision that outlawed negative campaign ads within 30 days of an election. That's a violation of the First Amendment, and McCain's endorsment of that bill made him lose my vote forever.

Of course. And if they can't find something, they will make it up. But really what good would that do them. They wanted Kerry to run for Democratic party president and he had a shady record. He even looked like Gargamel from the Smurfs and wanted him in office. Shows what they will do to keep a Republican out of the White House.

What...are you fearful of a "swiftboat vets for justice"-style slander attack against McCain? If so, were you also against the attacks on Kerry? Should we leave this crap out of the elections and concern ourselves with capabilities and leadership potential, perhaps?

McCain has health issues that may keep him from running.

They may but that approach in his case I think would backfire on the one using that against him since he paid such a heavy price being incarcerated by the enemy for several years which he can never regain. I think it would be disgusting of them to do so .

Anyone that votes for McCain, Clinton or Giuliani will just keep this country at war for many more years.

The fact that the liberal media cozy up to him tells me it is a trap if he ever gets the nomination they will rip him a new one.
