rugby is too rough for them, soccer has too much running, in hockey the puck moves too fast, so they made up their own game from all three, all the good names were taken so they just used football.
that should get some thumbs down!

So in a KICK-OFF we actually THROW the ball. Dude that is back-lot rules not NFL and only throw it in the back yard like that because most are better at throwing it then kicking as far as distance. So how do you go for a Field Goal, I'm pretty sure you KICK it in. Oh and if you NEVER use your feet do you run on your hands? Why do they call it cricket when you never kill a cricket on purpose?

If you research the game, you will find that there was more and different styles of kicking the ball in the past. If you follow the game at all, you realize the important role of the kicker and how many games are won or lost by field goals. Read the articles linked below for additional information.

The lineage of how American football was created starts with football (soccer). Rugby football was first spawned from football (soccer) when players decided the no hands rule needed to change. American football was spawned from rugby with the addition of pads and a fundamentally different set of laws. Most nations call American football gridiron, because of the lines on the field. You could almost call American football, football III.

you should really read the rules and watch a little of the game and you will see that in actual the game starts off with kicking off with your foot on the ball. and during the game you punt the ball with your foot if your forced to in a situation. and most of all you can score points by kicking a field goal thru the goal posts with your foot to score points. you should watch more and read up on your nfl rules and plays.
