The PS3 is pretty amazing. Sure it has a little rough areas here and there, but that happens with all new systems. All the of the major are suppose to be fixed when the next shipment. The improvements on this system are the following below:
-no need for batteries for the wireless controllers
-the premuim system has a 60Gig HDD, wi-fi, and memory card readers (xD, SD, Compact Flash, ect.)
-Blu-Ray player built in (for full and true High Def)
-Download upgrades like computer
-Has an Interface like the PSP
-Download games and demos (games cost, demos are free)
-Surf the Web
-Upload movies, music, and pictures (can also be downloaded)
-Shut down the system with controller (like the 360)
-Motion Sensor (optional in games)
-Backward capatible (plays PS1 and PS2 games)

I pretty much listed the big major improvements from the PS2. As for the price, it's quite steap, but the owners of the PS3 that I know said it was worth it. The 20gig verison is $499 and the 60gig verison is $599.

The cost is £37,000, (games are around £400), and it blows up in entirely new ways, as well as scratch your discs worse than before, it also doesn't play PS1 and PS2 games, and steals ideas from other companies, in addition to this, it doesn't play Blu-Ray movies, (all 17 of them), properly.

As with all Sony consoles, the life expectancy is around 15 months, and they will release a slim version and different colours soon after, and make it nigh-on impossible to get the adapters and such for the previous model.

Its pretty sweet, but the games will be awesome in about a year when they get things down right. Cost around $600 for the extra's and its got a blue ray dvd disc player.

One it has one of the fastest processors available to consumers. it costs either $500 or $600 depending on what configuration you want. Since i own one i can honestly say that it has some major improvments and loads much quicker than other next-gen systems
