Its shape could be what's called an oblate spheroid, which is the same shape as earth. An oblate spheroid is similar to an ellipse in shape when viewed in profile.
Because of earth's spin, it is "squashed" somewhat at its poles and bulges out slightly at its equator. This same phenomenon could also account for the shape of the moon.

Actually...... It's kinda 'egg' shaped. And the fat end points towards us because Earths gravitational attrraction causes a net torgue (twisting force) due to the mass distribution. But there is also a slight 'wobble' so we really get to see a bit more than just 50% of the Moon. IIRC it's something like 56% or 57% that we can actually see.

Your question is If the moon isn't round then what shape can it be? Well, it could be square, or a rectangle or a triangle. I think a star shape woul d be nice. Or it could be flat! It could even made of realy cheese! (I Love giving sarcastic answers once in a while. Please don't be offended....I do this to questions I think are really good.)

It is round. It just isn't perfectly round. It is ever so slightly warped, but the difference from a perfect sphere is so small that you cannot see it with your eye.

I think it is elipse. Yes an Earth is also an elipse. :) It's because of the gravity.
