With enough discipline anything can be trained...
Or with enough voltage... lol.
There is always the idea of taking pictures of the rabbit, posting him on the internet, and telling people to donate to you or you're going to cook him... Someone did that and made almost a million dollars.

Domestic Rabbits make great pets and many people keep them as house pets. Rabbits can be litter trained, leash trained and can learn a few tricks. The more time you spend with an animal the better the bond will be between you. With a good bond the rabbit will trust you and training will become easier.

Of course they can be trained. I had a pet rabbit who lived in my house. He was out of his cage all the times I was home, which was alot., He would sit beside me on the couch,
I also have friends who have litter trained their pet rabbits. Also have leashed trained them, they come when they are called.
The trick is to start young with them,. Its not much different then training any other pet.
I have trained guinea pigs in some things in the past. So if you trully want a rabbit, and to train it. Id say do it. Rabbits make great pets.
When you do look for one, be sure and check out the Humane Society in your area first. They sometimes have lots of rabbits who need good loving forever homes too.
Always rescue pets first instead of buying in a pet store.

No animal is just for show and petting ;)
In what way do you mean "trained?" They can be trained to use a litter box, and a lot will come when called, but don't bet on it doing any fancy tricks.
They take a lot ofpatience, but they can be great animals! Id look for some webpages on google, etc and find out more about trianing. Maybe even look for a rabbit forum where people can tell you thier experiences!

Both of my rabbits are litter trained. They can also be trained to come when called as well as other tricks.
This is a great book that describes the different trics one person taught their rabbit, and how to teach yours to do the same.

A popular thing in the UK is rabbit hopping, which is like rabbit agility.
Also, you should look into getting an adult rabbit from a shelter. They are in great need of homes and when they are grown you can get a good sense of their personality.
You might also want to check out the house rabbit society at www.rabbit.org

I feel all animals can be trained to some extent. My hooded rat was trainable. My rabbits have responded well to love and treats in getting them to 'perform' simple tasks/tricks. But I am not a professional. Mine was not a lop ear so I am not sure in that aspect. Maybe we will both learn something from the answers you'll get.

They can be trained! I trained my rabbit to use a litter box and to come when he is called. Now he doesn't need to stay in a cage anymore!
Rabbits are easy to train, believe me!

Yes they can be trained. When I worked in a pet shop my boss trained her rabbit and many customers came in that also had trained their rabbits. It can be difficult, but it can be done.
