i am one of eight, and i couldn't imagine my life without my siblings. i am the 3rd oldest, and only girl. i mean, there are times where we all get into our little spats, but that's what siblings are suppose to do, right? so the answer is i am happy to have siblings. just don't tell them that lol.

I was an only child till i was 13....then my sister came along. So, i feel like Ive been both. I am 29 now and she is 16. It's weird but it's really cool. We are VERY close....we are more like best friends right now than sisters although i do have to give her that older sister advice every now and then....she's 16 so she's being a teenager right now. I moved out of the house to another state when she was 7 but we have remained close. I love my sister.
being an only child has given me issues.....i have 3 kids now and they are 6, 7, & 7. I know its normal for siblings to fight but it rreally bothers me when they do. I feel like they are being mean to each other. Ive had to just get used to the fact that it's normal and all the noise is normal because it wasnt like that when i was a child. I didnt have anyone to fight with so it's almost like now i cant or dont care to stand up for myself. I would think that having siblings would make you are stronger person.

We are a semi large family 6 kids and we are so close. One sister died at the age of 38 and that seemed to make us closer yet. Oh yes we had sibling rivalry but the is with every family. Would I have liked to have been an only child not on your life.

cf- you're a parent now, and you don't understand why your parents were the way they were? it's sad that you're taking that so personal... imagine how your siblings feel to know that you hated the fact that they were even born... how sad....
now, to answer your question, I am an only child. My fiance is an only child, both of our mothers had miscarriages before we were born, and gave up on having more kids after us. we both were spoiled, but it was never enough. friendships never have been very solid, and our relationship has always been VERY rocky, and we both believe that these are because we were only children, and missed out on having that social experience. Not to mention, that our kids won't have aunts or uncles.... or cousins,,,,, kinda sad... our best friends will be their aunts and uncles, but it's not quite the same.
I don't believe that my parents were wrong in any way, but i would have loved to have siblings... there's always someone there for you, no matter how much you fight, or dissagree.
thanks for asking this one.... it's meaningful....

I am the youngest of 7 and I love having siblings now...I didn't when I was a kid because I was the smallest and they all felt compelled to pick on me.
But in all fairness, I drove them crazy first.
I can't imagine what it would be like to be an only child.

I was an only child until the age of 19. I had just moved out when my mother found out she was pregnant with my now 7 year old sister Elyse. I raise Elyse now since our parents died on 9/11. I treat Elyse like my daughter not a sister. But I don't wish I'm an only child, because if I was I wouldn't have anyone a blood relative to me, besides my kids.

that one is a hard one. sometimes i wish i was an only child but there are so many times i was glad i had my little brother around. especially when he was away from home with his friends and i was home alone. i guess i would have to say i would rather have a sibling than not. my only reason for not wanting one would be that i would have gotten more and been more spoiled but i don't think i would trade places with an only child.

I'm pretty happy having siblings. It does get annoying having the house, cars, bedrooms, etc. always so crowded. I could probably do without my oldest brother, but I guess I'm still happy he's my brother. I have eight siblings, and I am one of the exact middle ones. (I have two siblings my age.)

I was 5 when i got a step brother that didn't live with me and 9 when i got a brother that did live with me I am happy because it is boring when being alone and you have someone to boss around if you have siblings unless you are the youngest
