My stepchildren are ages 22, 21, 19 and 18 and my godchildren are 19, 9, 8, 6 and 3. My husband lists his children as his beneficiary but, other than my husband, should I feel obliged to list his children as my beneficiaries as well or to my godchildren?

You are not obligated to list anyone but your godchildren would make more sense, if you don't want to list your stepchildren it's okay because your husband knows you can't do everything for everyone and that if he were in the situation I'm sure he would do anything else.

List all as your beneficiary. You do not have to be obligated to do anything, however it depends how you feel about your stepchildren and your Godchildren let your heart guide you. God bless you.

You are not obligated. You may want to consider your siblings. Do not list the godchildren as beneficiaries because they are not related to you.

well I think that's perfectly fine to list his stepchildren as his beneficiaries because in a way they are his kids but, his godchildren i don't know

You shouldn't feel obliged to list anyone you don't want to list. If you want it to go to your godchildren, have at it. If you want it to go to the Hare Krishnas, have at it. If you want it to go to me, pleasepleasepleas email me and we'll discuss :)

you should list all of them unless you don't like his children or something! ultimately, it is your decision, but you may cause drama. i would want to leave money to my godchildren-- sounds like a good college fund or something (depending upon your age & theirs)

No-Your husband, if you so wish, is sufficient. If he wants the children to have any money ,when you pass, he can give them some.
