Can I say that I really hope that Kirsty Mum is sucessful in getting her daughters murderer brought to justice. A rich mans son in not obeying the marine laws of his country.

One big cover up by the Authorities.

ahhh, what a great song. "you scum bag, you maggot, you cheap lousy ******, happy christmas your **** off, i pray god it's our last."
great lyrics.
look for old bootlegs of that song with bassist cait o'riordan singing vocals. the pogues were gonna go with her version, but then they got kirsty to sing and her voice was much better.
there are also some bootlegs of cait singing the duet "haunted" with shane instead of sinead o'connor. haunted appeared on shane's solo record "the snake"
but my favorite pogues song is "if i should fall from grace" from the record with the same name and the record that fairytale is on. good song to get drunk and dance too. but my wife and i always slow dance to fairytale every year in a bar around xmas time singing the lyrics to each other. i love it.

Wrongjon - that is really really sick. You sad git. I loved Kirsty and was completely devastated when I heard the news about her accident. UK has definately lost a great singer / songwriter. There won't be anyone like her ever again. She was unique. I also hope her mum is succesful in putting wrong to right. Yes the Pogues & Kirsty where a match made in heaven. Its the best Xmas song ever. I love everything Kirsty recorded, but my favourite must be "Mother's Ruin" from her "Kite" album. Great Great Stuff.

Yes a magic combination becasue i heard a cover version of that song by am amateur choir on the intercom in a shopping centre and nearly threw up in the bin. So nobody else could have or can do it like those two.

I also really like John & Yoko too at Chriistmas.

I love that song, but every time I hear it I could cry for poor Kirsty. The shine has been taken off it, and it doesn't make me feel christmassy anymore, just a little sad.
