hi there. Most likely the fuel pump has stopped, maybe the fuel tank sensor, but replacement is the only sensible fix. Shouldn't be a big or expensive job though Has the fuel cap been changed? These are slotted to allow air in, if replaced by a non-slotted model then that stops air and causes a vacuum lock, which would stop the car starting. Check this with a low tank by taking the cap off and trying again - don't drive it like that though, the fuel gets out. Also, if you trace the fuel line in the engine compartment then you could check for blockages - unlikely, but possible. But the obvious deduction is that your fuel pump is broken and needs replacing. Good luck, Steve.

When you say won't start - is it cranking? If so
Remember the basics a car needs 3 things to run. Air / Fuel and Spark (assuming it's petrol). Typically you'll have air. so check if you're getting fuel - should be able to smell it out of the exhaust, that would then leave spark. Check the battery, do you get dash lights etc.
If it's not cranking try turning the engine by hand with a spanner. Is the starter motor engaging? If not try bump starting.

when engines don't start it's either fuel or combustion, check for spark at the high tension lead, or at the plug. Once you determine you have ample spark ( weak spark is not good ) then look to fuel supply.

Eitehr the battery's dead, or you've flooded the engine with petrol. Wait a while, then try again.
