Could cook yourself some chicken noodle soup, not canned or pre packaged chicken noodle but REAL chicken noodle soup. Takes a long time but it really works well. Alton Brown's show Good Eats gives you an Excellent method. And most recipies on the food network can be found on their website. Foodnetwork.com
Last time I had a cold I went to my favorite japanese restaurant and got a steak dinner(wasn't in the mood for sushi) a pot of green tea, and some of their mushroom soup. I also used a spicy sauce on my steak and that helped releive pressure in my sinuses(gives you a bit of a runny nose though).
Right before you get a cold, when you think your about to get ill, get some Airborne tablets. You drop them in a cup of water and drink it after it disolves. It has some good herbs and minerals in it and it helps strengthen your immune system.
Take vitamin C tablets(chewable is my preference). Echinacea is also a really good herb to help your immune system. Also I hear if you make tea with a herb called Golden Seal it helps as well.
I usually avoid taking too much medicine because I beleive my immune system is better off supported by natural herbs and minerals rather than manmade chemicals.
Drink a lot of water or tea. And catch up on some video games, movies or whatever. Give your body a good resting.
If nothing above is what you wanted to hear you can use the old fashioned method, get a bottle of whiskey and sweat it out of you by doing some hard work.

If you do this very early like in the first few hours or at most the first day, you can kill it the same day. Take garlic, one each vitamin A, C, and E (ACE) - the garlic can be capsules (8) or 1-2 raw cloves minced and gotten down anyway you can - I like them blended in tomato juice. You will feel it go away in an hour or so. But it often comes back in several hours or the next day and you need to repeat. If you have had the cold a few days, this may help but may not.

A lot of colds this time of year are due to the hot dry air from heating systems. The dry air causes mucous membranes in your nasal passage to dry and crack and any type of germs that pass across them can go into your blood stream. If you keep your nasal passage healthy you should be able to avoid ever getting colds.
You should be able to find a humidifier from a pharmacy and run it at night when you sleep. Also, get a saline nasal spray (the natural ones work the best) and use it in the morning before you leave the house, and at night before you go to bed. Get some white vinegar to clean out the humidifier with once a month.
If you can't afford to get any of these things, than boil a pot of water and make tea with it as often as you can. The steam will humidify your home.

I'd say get as much sleep as you possibly can (Your body fights off illness best while your resting)....
Drink a lot of water(To keep flushing out wastes), maybe add some fresh lemmon for the Vit. C (And to flavor up the water)
Herbal Tea and honey is quite soothing and the tea can contain antioxidant fighting power
Speaking of antioxidants, eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies. They will supply your body with the energy, vitamins, and minerals that your body needs in order to fight and get well again.
And dont forget your multivitamin. Ever since i began taking Centrum, I actually feel better and havnt gotten sick as much as when I was taking a cheeper store brand multi-vitamin.
Good luck. I hope you get better soon.

Colds last for two weeks. You might feel better though if you stay indoors, eat plenty of chicken and rice soup, take decongestants, use a vaporizor, Vicks up your chest at night (but make sure you was it off if you do have to go out anywhere) Just make sure you don't over due it on over the counter cold medications. They can make you feel worse if you take too much.
Good Luck-I hate being sick too!

One good way to get over the cough of a cold is to eliminate all sugar from your diet. Drink hots teas without sugar or honey. To help your throat for singing, drink room temperature pineapple juice. The enzymes in the juice help coat your throat, but cold juice will constrict your throat. Slippery elm tea is also known to help coat and soothe your throat.

Oregano oil is available at most health food stores. It tastes awful but it can kill just about anything. I have seen studies that show it to have antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-fungal properties and I've use it myself. I have not had a cold for longer that a day or two since I found it. You may want to consider a pro-biotic to keep your intestinal flora happy while you use it though, also available at a health food store or found in yogurt.

one of the best cough remedies ever made for me tasted awful but it worked! Chop one med onion, one clove garlic, and add one med bottle pure honey, let sit over night. Strain into a bottle and take a tablespoonful ever three or four hours. There really is no way to rid yourself of a cold once you have one but you can medicate the symptoms.
