I know that occupying forces stole many artworks, jewelery, etc.in Germany after WWII, it was the average soldier who did this. I experienced it personally as a child, everyone was ordered to leave their apartments and stand against the walls in the hall way, the American Soldiers then proceeded to look for "Weapons" and most of them stole the last items of value a family had to trade for food. We were lucky , we lived in the top apartment and the soldier who searched our little apartment did not make us leave and he was kind and let me stay in Bed to keep warm. The Neighbors told us what had happened to their valuables and we thanked God for protecting us. I am sure that the German Forces removed art works too, but it was by order of their superiors to bring it back to Hitler, individual theft was severely punished. AT least, that is what my Father told me.

What about it - I don't really understand what you are asking - there were Americans who took stolen art from the Germans then went ahead and took it for themselves.

Good Luck!!!
