Back in the late 80's early 90's the NBA's shorts were real small, short, and tight. A player by the name of Nick "The Dick" Anderson had a huge penis and the NBA went to the long baggy style shorts. Is this true or is this just a rumor.

Nelison "Nick" Anderson (born January 20, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois) was a former pro basketball player, but I am unaware of any abnormally large appendages. I mean Walt Chamberlain fit in to those small shorts.
Anderson is best remembered for missing important free throws that could have sealed a victory while playing for the Orlando Magic in a playoff game vs the Houston Rockets in 1995.
After missing four pivotal free throws that led to the Magic's defeat, Anderson developed a psychological problem that greatly affected his free throw shooting. This was an anomaly as he was considered to be a great shooter. After the help of sports psychologists, Anderson improved his free throw shooting but showed signs of his fear again during the last year of his NBA career.
I can't find any evidence of him being nicknamed "the dick" at all.

As to why the NBA did change, well, times changed for one thing. No one wears short shorts anymore. Several players became vocal about wanting to wear longer shorts- Joe Dumars for one. Dennis Rodman was probably the worst case scenario of a player showing more than most courtside fans wanted to see. A legendary defender, he was always all over the place, diving after the ball, wriggling around, etc. Plus, he is probably the least modest guys to ever play in the NBA, so accidents happened fairly often. Nowadays, players try to wear their shorts as long as possible and can actually be fined for wearing their shorts too long, as was the Indiana Pacer's Jamaal Tinsley recently. The players are more comfortable and there may be some truth also in that longer shorts helps players to hide the ball from defenders better and may help keep them warm. Also as fashion became more important and marketing of player gear became a lucrative business, the uniforms became more tasteful so as to sell more of them. And plus, do you really want to see Bill Laimbeer or Larry Bird running around in shorty-shorts? It made the game more marketable in more ways than one.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the real reason the NBA and other basketballers around the globe began to wear baggy shorts was because of a person by the name of Michael Jordan. Just as Michael was the first player to wear coloured shoes, he was also the first to wear larger baggy shorts. Other players simply followed this tend in an attempt to "be like mike". That is where the trend of baggy shorts began, it was simply a fashion trend.

Marriott hotels are urging guests to tip their housekeepers. The best way to do that is to have the maids put the chocolates on the pillow after they get a gratuity.

A study says that eating too much salt doubles the risk of getting arthritis for smokers. The question is how did anyone even think of running a study testing that conclusion in

the first place?

Rumour they changed the shorts so players would have more room, and as they sweat a lot it was easier to circulate air as they perspired so much plus baggy shorts are more comfortable

It was due to Michael Jordan but only because he used to wear his UNC shorts under his Bulls uniform shorts. Check out some early photos of him driving for a lay-up, and you'll see what I mean.
