There are so many Pokemon games on the GBA and I have bought a DS and have never played a Pokemon game before. I would like to try one and do not know which to get for my DS?
I know the Ranger version is not like the traditional kind or turn based fighting, and is more a catch them by scribbling on the touch screen. I want to try a more traditional kind.
Is Diamond the one to go for - or something else? Thanks

Is Diamond a released UK or US version yet?
Which one should I buy if i want to try the traditional sort of gameing for the DS?

MAVERICK - thanks for that, and to all so far. It seems the best thing to do would be to go for one of the older Red or Blue until Diamond comes on the DS.
Therefore - which of these shold I get from Red or Blue - what is the difference? Thank you all for all your help! : - )

If you plan on getting Pokemon Rescue Dungeon, I would advise agaisnt it. The reason is that this is a totally different version of a pokemon game, it is essentially a dungeon crawler rpg, while the rest are a bit more traditional. I would say wait it out until Diamond or you could go old school and get Red and Blue to truly see what made the game franchise so fantastic, otherwise you can basically pick up any of the other games as they are not real sequels and don't require you to know the history behind the games.
*Edit*
Just like any Pokemon game, there is only a slight difference between the colors, such as maybe 2 Pokemon that are exclusively for either title. There is no real advantage over getting one or the other, just pick your favorite color heh.

I have been a massive pokemon fan for quite a long time,
i tried the demo's and read the reviews for both games and i find them both completely different but i think the pokemon mystery dungeon is the better, now as for which to get red or blue i can't help you.

P.S. If diamond or pearl were out then there would be no choice, i would've adviced to go for them any day, as it is they are not released in UK or the US and no release date has been set or even rumoured

If you want to wait for it, Diamond or Pearl. They've been said to be coming out in the US in Jan, though it might be pushed back. It might come out in the UK not long after.

my son has mystery dungeon he has played a lot of Pokemon games and recons this is the best , hope that helps
