At the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a dispute over land and borders.
It started in 1948 when Israel was created,by a UN resolution,in Palestine, which at that time was under a British mandate. The Arab countries around didn't accept the decision and the next day they attacked the new created state.Israel won this war.In 1967 Israel attacked Syria,Egypt and Jordan in a pre-emptive war. They occupied and annexed to Israel Gaza Strip, the Sinai Peninsula, the West Bank of the Jordan River (including East Jerusalem), and the Golan Heights.Millions of Palestinians ended up living in UN's refugees camp in Lebanon
There are 3 UN resolution that ask Israel to end the occupation on the Palestinians territories and the other territories that they occupied in 1967 ,but the Israelis refuse to do it...
Since then Palestinians are living under Israeli occupation and they are refused even the elementary rights any human should have... And there are millions of Palestinians living in UN's refugees camps...Israel refuses to let those people come back to their lands...
The Arabs objected to the creation of Israel because it was created on a land where they have been living for centuries...And because one of the reason for creating Israel there was because the Arabs have already enough land so taking a country from them wouldn't be such a big loss...They had to leave their homes in order to allow Jews to come and live there...There are millions of Palestinians who were forced to leave their homes and who live now in other countries in UN's refugees camps and the Israel government said they should stop thinking they will ever come back to live in Palestine...
Here is something really interesting to read and see the maps:http://zionismexplained.org/map/map.html

The Middle East, specifically Palestine/Israel, has always been a convergence of competing ethnic groups, cultures, and religions. Religious and ethnic animosity plays a large role in the modern conflict as well. Jerusalem is the centerpiece for all three of the Abrahamic religions. Jerusalem holds the Temple Mount, the holiest site for Jews, the al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site of Islam, and is extremely important to the Christianity.
Many Arabs believe that modern Israel is a Western colonizing power, due to the influx of European Jews at the beginning of the 20th century, and has no claim to Israel proper, Jerusalem, or the Palestinian territories. Israel is therefore an aberration and must be eliminated.
The establishment of a Jewish nation has always been in the hearts and minds of the Jews. Many Jews had been forced to leave Judea in the 2nd century AD by the Romans and were dispersed throughout the Mediterranean region. Theodor Herzl, who founded the Zionist Movement in the late 19th century, called for the establishment of a Jewish state; a steady stream of European Jews soon began to enter British-controlled Palestine. The Holocaust, however, was the great motivator for many European Jews to settle in the Holy Land and consequently this and the subsequent wars with Israel's Arab neighbors displaced many Palestnian Arabs.
Religious animosity, ethnic tension, and who has control over Jerusalem has created a cauldron of violence in the Middle East. Religion can bring out the best in people, but also the worst. I suggest you do furthur research on Palestine, Israel, and the rest of the Middle East to put a historical context on the modern day conflict.

it quite is a protracted saga, and that i'm unlikely to decide who's incorrect and who's stable! initially the land belongs to Palestinians- then the western powers , quite England devised a plan and carved out Israel State from the Palestine territory and that's the important reason for the dispute. Now the present tale you already know rather plenty, the two the events could desire to compromise on co-existence for their own survival. The western ability decrease than the management individuals, after the united kingdom have prolonged the secure practices blanket to Israel, and the PLO and different Arab worldwide places taken oath to obliterate Israel from the face of the earth. of direction many countries replaced their stand, and arranged to stay mutually.or perhaps the PLO is raring on the subject of the co-existence; yet a clean undertaking has arised out of Israeli's expansionist regulations, i.e. Israel is had occupied a superb variety of arab lands in the time of the 1967 and 1973 conflict. In those lands Israelis are making new settlements and making their newly arrived jews of different worldwide places and descent to come back settle, it is the present undertaking. If Israel is end doing such issues, and US and Western Powers which comprise Israel comply with understand the Palestine State, then the undertaking would be come to an end. the two the Israelis and Palestine human beings can stay mutually; a million). Israel could desire to end the resettlement in occupied arab lands and quit to arabs decrease than negotiation. 2).Israel and US, Western Powers could desire to understand the Palestine State, and Jerusalem could desire to be dispensed frivolously to the Israelis and Palestines. So that's it chum, now you're able to desire to provide me a stable cope with, ok

"It started in 1948..." said your first respondent.
Far from it.
If we're not going to go back and blame the Romans, then you need to start with WW1, the Balfour declaration, and other pieces of diplomacy and politics. The British made certain promises (or at least half-promises) to the Jewish community, especially in America, while making other promises (or at least half-promises) to the Arabic nations, especially with the latter's assistance in fighting the Turks.
The conflict can be quite clearly be seen to have been "set up" by these moves, though it may have developed in any case.
Chances for a peaceful political resolution fell after WW2 for a variety of reasons: the Arabic factions and authorities which, disillusioned with British attitudes, had sided with the Germans had lost sympathy and political influence. Large numbers of displaced Jews needed places to live, and there was a marked reluctance on the part of almost all countries to accept them, adding strength to the building Jewish movement to Palestine.
That led to 1948, and all that followed.
The United Nations has the history in as much detail as you could want.

millions of jews migrated to palestine during the twentieth century, to a land that was already occupied, the private property already owned by the native palestinian population. This was the immediate cause. of course, the conflict has a lot of other historical and religious issues. britain controlled palestine, and after the suez crisis in the 1950s the u.s. got involved as well.

They're like children who don't know how to share, seriously, one has something the other wants so they kill to get it. If they could only stop being so violent and look at the problem in a civilized manner like mature people they could stop all this war.
America really should NOT have to police the world but the Arabs want to bomb us and kill us so we have to defend ourselves. I wish that that they would just stay over there where they are and duke it out amidst themselves so America doesn't have to get worried about terrorists and attacks like 911.
