I am starting a web site and need a fully functional shopping cart that isn't too hard to understand and keep updated. I'm looking at Godaddy's Quick shopping cart. Are their any similar but better? I don't love the look of this one.

Shopping cart: It depends. Are you wantng to host it yourself or use a hosted solution? If you host it yourself - you will need to then determine if you want ASP or PHP (usually on Windows it is ASP and on UNIX it is PHP)

For a merchant account - you need an electronic payment gateway also (Linkpoint, Verisign's Payflow, and Authorizenet.com). You can check out http://www.loudcommerce.com - but you really don't want to set up the merchant account until you are ready to sell. As long as you are based in the United States, need less than $30,000 a month and not selling any adult-oriented material, a merchant account usually takes less than one day to approve
