What can I do to stop it? And does this happen to you?

I've had this same problem with my pants. In my case it was because of the amount wear since I don't like wearing tight fitting pants. Pants will do that when they are worn very often or if they are too tight.
In any case, if the tear is on the seam (seam tears open) you can sew it back up, but use a heavier grade of thread like the variety used for upholstery and home decor. If this is a problem with all of your pants you can use that same thread to sew on top of the existing seam. You'll want to sew near the "straight stitches" which are usually about 1/4" to 3/8", or as much as 1/2" away from the edge.
If your tear is in the fabric and it is a rip rather than a hole you can sew the fabric closed again and use a patch on the inside as reinforcement. When fabric gets ripped or a hole it is weakened. You can also sew on a patch from the inside to repair a hole, and make sure the patch is a close match the pants color. In either case use thread that matches the pants color as closely as possible so it will be less noticeable. Rips and holes in fabric unfortunately can't really be prevented.

This has happened to me before, usually with cheaper pants. The friction caused by walking wears out the material quickly so they rip. Does this happen for you with all types of pants or just certain ones? Try buying pants that have a more rugged material, or some silkier ones that would create less friction.

I don't know what to do to stop it. I wish I did know cause all of my pants eventually do this and some do it so early I feel it's a waste of good money even buying the pants.

i think you should not wear a tight pants, also wearing cotton pants or any other smooth cloth is very useful, you should also use in such places that got harmed some baby oil or talc powder which make skin much softer to decrease friction.

IF YOU ARE WALKING ALOT THIS WILL HAPPEN; I HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME WHEN I USED TO BE A SERVER ;I WAS ALWAYS WALKING .THE PANTS MAY BE WEARING OUT TOO QUICKLY IF YOU WEAR THEM ALOT.WASHING YOUR CLOTHES OVER AND OVER MAKES THE FABRIC MORE LIKELY TO TEAR.GOOD LUCK!!
