I don't know your gender or that of your friend, and how long have you been friends ... I'm 42
the best gift my g.f. of 22 years gave me was a scrapbook of us through the years, it was so great I had tears of laughter for the good times, sadness for the unwanted changes and trials we've been through and every emotion in between. I don't do scrapbooking and she's always been a photo queen ... and every year she updates it with a new page or so.
I also like the gift of time with my friends since that seems to be the hardest thing for the 40's set to come by with work family and added responsiblities of aging parents, so a day or night out having fun is a great thing as well. I don't need more trivial things in my life ... friendship is good for the soul.
