I don't know if it's normal, but I think it is common. My mother has a horrible track record with marriages, while I am in a fantastic marriage. She does make the odd comment here and there about how lucky I am and I get the feeling she is jealous. She will sometimes out of the blue bring up an ex-boyfriend who broke up with me as if to remind me that I have had a failed relationship - we all have! So you're definitely not the only one to feel this way.

I don't think so, I am a mom, and my daughter is not married but if she was and happy I would be so happy for her I would be on cloud nine. Moms are not jealous, but happy for their childrens success and happiness. Sounds like she is jealous because she is never happy herself, maybe seeing how happy you are makes her see how unhappy she is. Sad, but maybe you should talk to her and tell her how you feel.

It is not normal, but it happens a lot, she might be jealous that you have someone you really love, and maybe she felt that he took you away from her.
She spent all her life raising you and now over night someone just comes along and takes you away from her.
Don't worry she will get over it.

No its not normal for any mom to be jealous of her daughter's love. Or maybe she is only concerned.

Normal, no. But it most certainly happens. After I got married, my relationship with my Mom was strained for years. Only after my divorce did we mend fences. Now that I am in a serious committed relationship -- we're strained again! LOL

I'm sure she is not jealous - don't project your feelings on to her. She is older and more experienced than you, and she is finding happiness her own way. Mind your own marriage!

are you sure it is jealousy? It could be that she is just feeling the loss of you being there or that she is concerned that it is the right marriage for you...or it could be that she is mourning the loss of her happiness and that yours is a reminder to her....why don't you sit down and talk with her.....good luck

No. It sounds like your mother is having issues of her own. Try not to let this bother you and enjoy your marriage.

No, its not normal. I would think that she would be happy for you let alone being glad to get rid of you so that she can go on with her life.
