transylvania is a large area in the Carpathian mountains, and it takes up about half of Romania's territory. There are beautiful towns and mountain scenery there. You should visit it sometime. don't worry, there are no vampires there. the legend comes from the history of Vlad the Impaler, a ruler from centuries ago, who defended the country from invaders by ruthless means.

Transylvania, as said, is found in Romania.
And there are of course, no vampires in Transylvania due to the fact that vampires, in the way Hollywood has portrayed them do not exist.
The myth of Vampires comes from the story of Vlad the Impaler, son of Dracul, a member of a religious order who were bent on pushing back the forces of the Ottoman Empire. Vlad the Impaler and Dracula are one in the same. Dracula if I remember correctly can be translated into "little dragon".
"Dracula" was a fighter of the Turks and at one point in fighting the Ottomans he found himself without weapon and resorted to using his body; his teeth especially, to fight his enemies. It has been recorded that he had bite the turk soldiers' necks and the soldiers of the Ottoman army in the area of Transylvania were afraid to fight him.
That is one reason why the belief "vampires" came into existence.

There's always a possibility. Back in the day the people in those towns really believed in the undead and had special tools (for killing them) and ceremony type practices they would carry out believing it would keep them away. Dracula selling his soul to the devil and becoming a vampire is a myth HOWEVER some in that region actually believed in him coming back from the dead.
I don't know if i believe in them or not. I say, anythings possible and try to always keep an open mind.

Transylvania is a region in Romania, famed for the blood lust of Dracular. He was a brutal war lord, but no proof of actually drinking or sucking blood from his victoms. It is also the region where the gypsies came from in their traveling circuses and side shows.
