It is not clear if the rumors are about you or started by you. They are best friends so talk with them. Tell them the way things really happened and apologize for any misperceptions.

If the rumors aren't true and you didn't do anything wrong, then no need to ask for forgiveness. Instead, talk with them and explain to them. That's how friends settle problems among themselves. Misunderstanding needs to be cleared. If you can't talk to them verbally for any reason, then write a letter to each of them. Make sure you explain everything very clearly. If they are BEST friends, they will listen to you and not jump into their own assumption/conclusion. If they still accuse you after all of your efforts in explaining to them, then they're not true friends. If I were you, I would leave them.

YES,"There is one only defect in forgiving persons, and not another; that defect is that people take a forgiving person to be weak. That defect, however, should not be taken into consideration, for forgiveness is a great power. Forgiveness is a virtue of the weak, and an ornament of the strong. Forgiveness subdues (all) in this world; what is there that forgiveness cannot achieve? What can a wicked person do unto him who carries the sabre of forgiveness in his hand? Fire falling on the grassless ground is extinguished of itself. And unforgiving individual defiles himself with many enormities. Righteousness is the one highest good; and forgiveness is the one supreme peace; knowledge is one supreme contentment; and benevolence, one sole happiness

okay, lets say the rumor is that you are sneaking around with their bf or hubby behind their backs. If you have flirted with the man before, then yes apologize for flirting, but not for cheating since you didn't do it. Otherwise, don't apologize for anything you didn't do. Explain to your friends that you didn't do whatever the rumor is about. If they can't "get over it" then you may need to get new friends.

littlefun is right true bestfriends would really not be hurt just by rumors, but sometimes it happens (lucky your not it happened to you hehe) ok, anyway its better if you try explaining the situation first, although asking for forgiveness is a humble act, doing it in your situation would not be the best way ......Goodluck and hope you'll have your friendship back...........

If they are really your bestfriends, they shouldn't believe at rumors about you!

But, if you really love them, try asking for forgiveness and explain everything! Wish you luck!!! :) :)

If it is just a rumor and if they are really your friends then they will believe you and not the rumor, if they don't they were never your true friends to begin with. Sit them down, tell them the truth, and you will see if they are really your friends.

If you did nothing wrong and the rumors are false, then you need not feel the need to defend yourself. Its their issue and you need to remind them that we are suppose to be friends, and if it was a rumor about one of them, you would defernd them and have a good laugh.

Explain the situation, but don't apologize if you're not in the wrong. And even an apology is in order, you can say you're sorry, but don't "ask for forgiveness."
