I love anime, but I feel embaressed for people to know find out. This is because alot of people have never actually watched it, and they think its just cartoons. Why do people give me such a hard time about watching anime when, if they ever actually watched the ORIGINAL JAPANESE versions, they would see that most of it is clearly NOT for children, but for adults and adolescences? On the same note, why do so many people who HAVE seen it decide to freak out and say "that crap isnt appropriate for kids"? Well no duh. As previously stated, alot of it is not made for kids. Blarg.

The edited versions that are shown on cartoon network are usually rated Y7 I believe. So just like any other show, its up to the parent to decide if they think their child can handle it.

I love Anime, as well as all my friends. We are all adults, well as adults as we ever plan to be. You are right, it's not meant for kids, that is made for young adult and up. But you have to remember we live in America and everyone here is a bunch of sissy whimps and can't watch anything with violence or blood or gore. In Japan all what we see is NOT edited for TV there. So worry not, you are not alone, and next time someone says anything just reply, "You mean, you DON'T watch? Huh? You're really missing out."

Nothing at all!!! Yes, more younger people do watch Anime and read Manga, but you just go to an Anime convention and then you will see a lot of us "older" people there! I am older than you are, but younger than the answerer who is 60 years old. In fact, I just got really interested in Anime & Manga within the past five years! I had been watching bits here & there of Inuyasha and watched YuYu Hakusho & Dragonball religiously when they were on the tube. I have more Anime & Manga than I do other genres of books and movies, much, much more! When I pack up the house to sell and move next year, I will truly find out how much I really do have! I'll need boxes up the wazoo!!!!!

Nope, nothing wrong with it.
Usually when someone tries to criticize it, it is coming from that "american" view that anything animated=cartoon=for kids. Animation isn't meant for adult tv/ movies, esp non-comedies.
When someone tries to reduce anime to a cartoon thing for kids and adults shouldn't watch it, I challenge them to go watch Evangelion and tell me it's a kid's show.

first of all its wierd when KIDS watch anime, trust me, i am 1.....and anime ain't cool.
