The climate is changing, probably part of the normal cycle of events. The earth is warming but is still markedly cooler than its average temperature over the last 60 million years. There are many scientists who believe that it will cool more quickly than the normal cycle due to sloar dimming caused by the pollutants in the air reflecting sunlight back into space.

Don't you love how the politically correct crowd picks on SUVs, as if they are the sole cause of the alleged problem? Any honest and rational person will realize that there are far more pick ups and vans that get as bad of mileage and spew as much pollution. However, they are unable to see the obvious ignorance of their statements. We could get into the power plants that dump many more tons of pollutants in the air so these same paople can have electricity to run all their toys.

I am sure lots of people would blame global warming (which may be due to human activities and green house gasses, but might also be due to normal cyclical weather variation -- there has been period that were hotter than now in the past, and human activity cannot be blamed for it).

Last year was not as warm but saw a record number of strong hurricanes and tropical storms, while the 2006 season was more quiet. Those gigantic storms use the energy of the ocean and spread it around, and their clouds do block out the sun. It is possible that all the energy that would have been expended and reflected by the storms is thus still with us, owing to the relative scarcity of such storms this year.

It may be climate change, it may be natural variation, jet streams that don't allow cold air from Canada to come down, or it could be from greenhouse gases. Or a combination of the four.

Basically, don't flat out deny that CO2 is BAD. How bad, we're not sure yet. But negative effects on the environment are happening - sit up and listen.

I drive a hybrid car - 2003 toyota prius. It is a fabulous, fabulous car. I HIGHLY recommend it. Or any hybrid - they're getting cheaper! :) (Plus I like to point and laugh at the people spending 50 bucks to fill their tank while I pay a measely 25.)

Because the earth is going through a perfectly normal climate change. It is getting a little warmer.. This happened about 600 years ago followed by The Little Ice Age.
