Why are people always bashing Black women in America and calling us ugly? I don't get it. Everytime there is a question about Black women on this site it's always negative and people are always callin gus ugly and ghetto on here. This makes me sick.

All that matters is that you believe you are beautiful. If someone calls you ugly, they are just revealing the fact that they are jealous of you. If they REALLY felt that you were ugly, they would have no reason to say it. But they know that you are gorgeous and self-confident, so they have to find some way to bring you down.
(BTW, I don't believe that modifying your looks makes you any "less black" than someone who doesn't. If you relax your hair or change your look every once in a while, that is not self-hatred, no matter what anyone says. White people do it constantly and no one says a word. The only way to make yourself more black than someone else is to change your DNA.)

I'm sorry you're going though this. I went through the same thing. True beauty come from within, some of the most beautiful people in the world can still be ugly. As far as the light skin thing goes, so people just have a preference for that, I know that I'm beautiful and I'm not ghetto. Don't pay attention to the negative and keep focusing on the positive.

WE know Black is beautiful. Blacks get discriminated against all the time we're in the spot light more and more now.If people will leave things in the past and stop portraying blacks in negative way we might get pass this.Think about it in the last 10 commericals how many black women have you seen that the media has portrayed as pretty,People only go by what they see and we are not portrayed in a spot like moment.And as far as ghetto look at cops,Maury,etc.We are going to get pass this because we are beautiful people.You can see passion in all of us.

So many good answers already...I think true beauty isn't, as the Bible says, the "outward putting on of apparel" but is the inward spirit. I've seen a lot of women who have spent way too much time and money on their looks and are some of the ugliest women ever because of their attitude and personality. And some very plain girls (by society's standards) who are to me quite lovely because of their soft, sweet spirit.
But I guess if you want to look at a physical standpoint, that's your own opinion. I personally think every different race has it's own unique beauty. They're all different, lovely, and special for their own reasons. I actually tend to think that people who are not my race are prettier than I am.

I wouldn't say black is beautiful just like I wouldn't say white is beautiful. A person can be beautiful facially but have an ugly heart. What makes a person beautiful is having a good nature and a kind soul. I've seen stunning black women. I think Lauren Hill is flawless and she is proud of her heritage. Don't ever be ashamed of who you are. God made you and therefore you're beautiful.

Does it really matter what people think anymore?! Black women themselves don't even think they're beautiful! Why do so many black women go around getting skin bleaching cream, hair relaxers, eye contacts, etc. If someone doesn't think that they themselves are beautiful why should they complain because noone else thinks they are either!? Black people really need to come correct & stop talking about light skin/dark skin, good hair/ bad hair, my great,great,great,great-grandmother was Native American. IT DOESN'T MATTER! You are black! You are always going to be black! Until YOU think you are beautiful, noone else will either! Also, please don't give me any CRAP about, "my hair doesn't grow if it's not relaxed. It won't be manageable." White people can't put their hair in Afros & they don't complain about it!

It's true that you have to ignore negative people or else you will only hurt yourself. If you see people bashing black people on YA remember that it is only one fool out there typing it into his little computer. as for calling black women ugly, ... i haven't seen people doing it, and when you see how many high fashion models are black, you can see how people appreciate black beauty.

i dont think black is ugly i have fancied many black girls in the uk however, they always seem to only go for black guys. i really dont know why this is. i know lots of black men that go out with white girls. i wonder why this is maybe black girls do not find white men attrctive or they just do like us. not sure why though.

All race are beautiful. Those that say Black isn't beautiful is just saying that to hurt black women. They are just jealous.
