If you like historic hotels the Galvez is wonderful. Its across the road from the beach and is very nice. Its a Wyndham hotel. It has a Mobil 4 star rating. There is another Wyndham called the Tremont. Its not on the beach, but is on the Strand, an historic area. Hilton has a resort there, which is a newer hotel. It has a 3 star rating.
I love Galveston. It has a lot of great history. I have heard Moody Gardens is great. Have a great trip!

I cannot think of any RV parks in the Galveston area that have a pool. The big draw in the Galveston area is the beach of course and I suppose RV parks don't see a need for a pool. There are some on the Bolivar Peninsula across the bay from Galveston that are decent, but no pool. There is a pool/water park (actually there several small water parks) nearby. The nicer ones are in the Crystal Beach area. They have pull through parking and water/wastewater hookups with electricity. The nicest one is ran by the owner of the Stingaree Restuarant. It is located on Hwy 87 in Crystal Beach and the nicest waterpark is just a couple of blocks from it. The name is Bolivar Peninsula RV Park and the number is 409.684.0939. Another nearby is Sanddollar RV Park and the number is 409.684.2197. Then there is one on the Intercoastal Canal with boat ramp and docks. That would be the Crystal Canal RV Resort and the number is 409.684.0268. While these are not in the city of Galveston, they are in Galveston county. You can get here via the Bolivar Ferry from the city of Galveston. It is a free boat ride and RVs are allowed. Just go into the city of Galveston on I-45 across the causeway. Take the first exit, Harborside, go left at the light and stay on it until you reach Ferry road. Turn left and you end up at the ferry. After crossing the bay (20 minute boat ride but sometimes there are boarding lines) and getting off the ferry, you will be on Hwy 87. Go about ten miles on 87 and you will be in the Crystal Beach area. An alternate route is to take I-10 to Winnie (between Houston and Beaumont) and go south on 124 to the beach. 124 turns west and becomes Hwy 87. Go about 20 miles and you will be in the Crystal Beach area. It is longer mileagewise but the line at the ferry during summer is sometimes lengthy. Good luck and safe motoring. Note: I thought I needed to add that all of these are just a short block or two from the beach, 32 miles of it. And you can still drive and park on the beach. A lot of people stay here and day trip into Galveston. The park in Dickinson is probably nice but it is easily a half hour or more from the beach.
