I once did a book report in high school. The teacher said we can do a book report on any book we ever read and we'd get an 'A'. So I did a book report on ' Dick and Jane ' and got my 'A'.

What do you have to read it for? What do you like? Need more info as there are millions of books!
As a complete random guess I'd go for High Fidelity by Nick Hornby.

Try one of Terry Pratchett's books. He has a dry humour and his storylines always progress with humour included without trying too hard to be funny. But really it depends on what kind of book you want. T.P. writes light entertainment which appeals to adults and children and you don't have to be 'into' his series of books to enjoy one on it's own.

Patrick Suskind's Perfume is a great book and it's coming out as a film soon (which will probably be rubbish).

If this is for school, try "The Knight, Death, and the Devil" by Ella Leffland. It is about a man who starts out his adult life as a hero and becomes the worst possible criminal and villain.
