Everybody has it's own behavior standards based on personal experience and what they learn from the quality of what they read or hear. Keep being honest and on the long term it will pay. Do the opposite and you soon or later will regret it.

I am struggling to understand the question and so I am lying because I presume to understand.
Everybody who is answering your question may be lying because they probably do not understand it either.
Moral of this - People misunderstand, lie, and obfuscate the truth every now and then. The reasons are many.
1. Kindness
2. Miscommunication
3. Ignorance
4. To get out of trouble
5. To trick you or cheat you

Because thats human nature. Some people only lie to get out of trouble, others tell lies for entertainment, others tell them to be spiteful.

People lie to hide their own inadequacies. Perhaps a way of pretending that they are a better person than they are.
