I really craved apples but they had to be Cox Pippins and not just any old apple. I also had a really, really strong urge to eat shoe polish. I used to spend hours sniffing tins of the stuff and salivating. I tried a bit (only a lick's worth off my finger) because I was worried it was dangerous for the baby but even thinking about it now makes my mouth water.
My mum had cravings for cardboard with my brother and ate coal when she was pregnant with my sister.

Well ... during my first pregnancy, it seemed like a good idea to dip a peanut butter sandwich in red wine. Now, I don't normally like red wine OR peanut butter. I have no idea where that came from.
Also, this is one of the reasons I'm thinking I'm pregnant now ... I have a really strong urge to lick stamps and envelopes. I usually get the self-adhesive kind just because I don't like licking them, but today I picked up envelopes and got the regular kind just so that I could lick them. Weird.
OMG, now Belize just HAD to mention ice cream. Blue Bell's "Cake Batter" flavor is absolutely to die for. Too bad none of the supermarkets sell it here. I'll have to wait til the cafe opens at lunchtime. : (

With my daughter, I mixed KFC cole slaw, cranberry sauce and raisins together and ate it- it was SO good! And I had to have 2 fresh peaches everyday.
I never really had any weird cravings with my 2 sons, but I drank a lot of water and ate tons of ice cubes and I was never a huge water drinker and haven't been since.

I couldn't get enough of brushing my teeth - just for the sensation of the toothbrush, rather than for the taste. I also wanted to sniff the sealant our tiler was putting on slates for a shower cubicle - I had to physically restrain myself from sniffing it from the bottle as I knew it would be terrible for my baby.

My sister had a deep craving for Country and Western Music. Honky-Tonk style. Never listened to it before, hasn't listened to it since, but both times she was pregnant, she couldn't get enough.

Dam ladies, I just got new ideas for midnight snacks. Hate to barge in on your girl talk but when my sister was pregnant I introduced her to Hagen-Das Pineapple Coconut ice-cream.
Bad idea. I was up at two in the morning walking around NY trying to find a store that sold it. It was at that point I realize my brother-in-law was a worthless piece of crap!
Well at least I thought that was his dam job!

Mint...I would eat tubes of toothpaste if we didn't have mints in the house, it had to be the really gritty mints....chewing gum just wasn't enough! Carried on about 2 months after the twins were born....
