My friend is a police officer and according to him is this:
NO EXCUSES. BE HONEST. BE CONSIDERATE.
And he says he lets these types go more than 90% of the time. Then again he says less than 10% act in this manner. Of the 20 years I've been driving, I've only gotten 2 tickets out of way over 10 stops because I practice the above rules.

I've never been pulled over for speeding yet, but one time I was on a trip with some other people, and the driver said, "I was just trying to keep up with traffic!"
I'm not sure if that worked or not though.

I TOLD THE OFFICER I WAS LATE FOR A MEETING AND HE TOLD ME THAT SINCE I HAVE A CLEAN RECORD HE DID NOT WANT TO BE THE FIRST SO HE LET ME GO WITH A WARNING WHEW!
