Google pay per click or "ppc" can get out of control if you are not careful. If you are promoting something very obscure its ok, suggest listing with directories, most are free, it is free on google too, just takes a while. Linke below will give you a huge list of directories.

The person who answered your question 1st is assuming you want to pay for ads to advertise your business ... which is fine ...
but if you just want to be listed, you dont have to pay search engines to do this. What I recommnend doing, is going onto the search engine and searching for the term submit - this will bring up googles page for submitting your website to them. What you can do as well, is just get your site on the web, and have some people link to it, eventually the spiders will find your site and give you the credit for the links.

no,you can submit your website to the search engins. http://www.google.com/add_url.html It will take time for the search engin to list your site.
