Because the Feds say Marlnol is available for medical use which contains the same active ingredient as pot Also the drug companies would lose a lot of money because people could grow their own. My fiance (RIP) was a cancer patient who used both Marinol and weed as part of her treatment The Weed worked much better. For more ino on Medical pot see www.medicalmarijuanaprocon.org The Feds just have not learned Prohibition is not the answer Also the person that claims pot is additive is dead wrong There is no scientific evidence that pot is physically addictive.. Also just for the record NO one has ever O.D.ed on weed

Ah, pot. Why is it illegal? It's simple really. Just like most things termed illegal aside from moral issues like murder and so forth. Whenever your elected officials (or bureaucrats) determine something to be bad for you it's usually because enough (a majority) were influenced to do so in return for something. Sometimes that's not so much (like a fire chief having sex to determine who gets the contract for new fire trucks) and other times it's about a hunting lease, a share in a limited partnership or other business arrangement and sometimes it's just cash or campaign contributions direct or indirect.
There are literally thousands upon thousands of such examples. Our public policy, in America, and much around the globe, is determined often not with the best interests of the public in mind but with the best interests of the special interests in mind. In the case with marijuana you can look to the cotton industry as one of the primary sources against it's legalization. If pot were legal, cotton clothing would have some serious competition. If you were a big executive in the cotton industry would you want that competition? Or would you offer certain pliable officials gifts in return for their support?
For example, many of the so-called environmental controls that are put on automobiles today are not implemented by the "green" people. They are promoted by the automobile service sector so that they have another revenue stream. The fact is that, unless you're Amish or have otherwise opted out of the A Economy (as defined by Alvin Tofler) then money talks and BS walks.

Well federal law supercedes state law but they wont have the resources to fight 6 states which all have the same proposition on the ballot Tuesday, not just Calif. The postal service was made an independent agency and considered quasi-governmental in 1981, another Reagan attempt to get rid of government and save money. Since then, the cost has increased and it is less efficient than when it was a government agency.

pot helps with nausea...for some a little bit of help with pain..
there R anti nausea medications as well as various pain killers....
if its sanctioned for medical use by some states and supervised then its already available
...why do the feds need to legalize it??
Most of the pot is smoked by people who use it to simply get high when high they don't think straight and do things that endanger themselves or others...
...Why legalize something that is grown, dried and sold to provide people an opportunity to mess themselves or others up??
Marijuana is addictive as are many other drugs ...
..medical usage is available but research has shown that the "benefits" from marijuana do not differ significantly from traditional medications. The research is primarily based on patient perception of relief or lack of relief...
so its more survey material rather than actual measurable results..(think placebo statistically placebos provide glowing accounts of relief regardless of the type of placebo used...it appears that a specific segment of the population can induce relief simply because they believe that this pill/treatment will "work")
Marijuana "relief" is maybe placebo Maybe actual ...who knows.
.-->So, again -WHY would a government want to create a population of drug addicted people who are so focused on getting high or getting their next fix/supply that they become non-productive drains on society?

I can't think of a single one,, but I suspect it has a lot to do with the year end profit reports in the pharmacy drug markets. It doesn't take a genie to figure out how to grow a weed, and everyone knows there is no profit in weeds. Mary-Jo-Juana is so common it can be grown anywhere. All the profits from the use of marijuana go to lawyers,, and we know lawyers are greedy bastards.
