I am planning on going to a gig on my own (because none of my friends like the same music as me) but am a bit worried about what people will think when they see me there on my own. What do you all think?

Why do you care what other people think?

F*ck'em. They're strangers. Do what you want to do. Jebus. Live your own life.

I've been going to gigs on my own since I was 15, go for it! It's totally worth it, you can come and go when you want, you don't have to wait around plus you're bound to make new friends when queuing up, it's great fun. Always be careful though if you're travelling there on your own too, you know, do the telling someone where you are thing and make sure your phone is fully charged (and don't waste the battery taking photos) so you can phone someone when you're leaving the venue. It seems obvious but I know of people who don't and have been mugged and stuff on the way back.

There is nothing wrong with going on your own. If your worried that people will think that you are a loner, don't give them a reason to. Don't haver in the back of the room, don't keep your head down, if someone speaks to you, at least act like you're interested. Even though you might not be, you never know who might be watching. If you seem uninterested to one person, they all might think that you're either shy or stuck up. Mostly, have fun and be yourself. Maybe you will meet friends that do have your interests. Then you won't have to go alone anymore.

People wont think less of you if you are going on your own as you will all have one thing in common and thats the music you are there to listen to. Have a look on the bands website and see if they have a forum as they usually have a gig page where you can meet buddies. I went to see MCR on my own in nov as my mates are not into them and i went on the web forum and made friends which put my mind at ease. Hope you have a good time

I always see people on their own at gigs and never think anything of it - at the end of the day, we're all there to enjoy the music!

i think its great! go and have a good time - when your on your own you always make friends anyway. you have an immediate starting point for a conversation with a stranger - the band!
its a shame that socially its acceptable for men to go to bars and gigs on their own but its less acceptable for a woman to do it. also the other drawback is that you will probably get chatted up by weirdos but thats the hassle of any night out sometimes!

My sister's seriously into her music and often goes to gigs on her own. She loves it as there's no-one else to worry about or wait round for! Just go and have fun.

Go ahead, you won`t be on your own for long ! Lots of people go on their own, you don`t realise this because, in no time at all they are in with everyone else and having a super time.

computer says yes, don't worry about the opinions of strangers.
the only opinion that matters is the opinion of someone you
respect,so go have a few drinks and do what you do.And
enjoy the band cause at the end of the day, that's why your
going,be safe,be happy and be carefull.
