Energy generated inside the sun as a result of nuclear fusion is radiated in the form of electromagnetic waves. These waves do not require any medium for their transportation. All electromagnetic waves carry energy. The speed of these waves are the same as that of light. In fact, light is itself an electromagnetic wave.
