Most of the time I pay attention to the question, but for sure avatars can attract us for visiting one's profile or 360 page ... any way, if you're asking a parsonal question depending on your own avatar, I think you look attractive enough to attract others :)

I barely notice avatars. And considering the yahoo cartoons basically all look the same with different hair/clothes/etc, I couldn't really tell you whether one looked "appealing" or not. I think they're kind of freakily odd.

I never even bothered to change mine... hm... I should make a girl version of that "no picture provided" avatar.

On close knit forums, I notice and recognize people by avatars more than anything else--but on places like this, it's hard to tell anything.

For me, the avatar has nothing to do with the questions I answer. I just look into the ones that sound interesting.

If there is smoke there must be fire.... You have this doubt in your mind because you must have felt that some avtars are more appealing than others and they grab your attention even though the answer of that person may not impress you much. In case you are unable to decide between 2 answers ( 1 having an impressive avtar and the other with no avtar or repulsive image) .. tell me which one you will choose? Human mind responds to images in a strange way.
However the reverse is not true. A person will choose to answer questions based on the interest/ ability in answering that question and not on the avtar.
Hey !!! but dont reject my answer in case you don like my avtar :)

Avatars make for nice predisposition, where I am concerned. I wouldn't shy away from a question because there was no avatar featured, I have however skiped questions because the visual representation of the asker was communicating something displeasing or questionnable in my view. I also get irritated with all these account holders featuring female names while using the grey male photo contour. To me this is screaming 'I am bogus" and that is enough

An avatar is the manifestation of a Hindu deity (especially Vishnu) in human or superhuman or animal form; "the Buddha is considered an avatar of the god Vishnu" .
It is also a new personification of a familiar idea; "the embodiment of hope"; "the incarnation of evil"; "the very avatar of cunning" .
What this can possibly do in attracting people is a complete mystery to me (except if you think YOU are an avatar of some deity ???

I usually look at the question - can I give a good answer? not at avatars.

However, if you are asking gender-dependent questions, you might get different answers depending on your avatar. If you ask "What should I wear to my high school reunion?" the answers will be different.

No, I look a the question. But I do notice the avatars and wonder if that's really what they look like. I also notice the unique ones.

I like your hair! :)

I don't find that avatars make me want to answer questions, if it is a good question I answer it regardless of the picture.

I read the questions. I hardly ever look at the avatars.
