I do this especially when there are so many good answers as long as it is a decent answer not just "yes" "no" or not thoght upon. I remember when i 1st started i wanted a best answer and it seemed like it took 4 ever I now try to encourage by giving someone their 1st best answer to get them started

I always pick a best answer unless i only get one answer and it's terrible, then i just delete the question lol but i feel like when people give super long answers it's just annoying cause most of the time you just want a quick short simple answer.

I usually don't check everyone's profile to see if he/she has just received the first 10 points for best answer from me ... but I can remember my feeling for my first best answer ... I couldn't stop jumping up and down, really cool :)

If everyone response is similiar I try NOT to give it to the people that have "millions" of points unless they are about to reach another level.
I do check levels and try to help that way.
But again--only for the responses that are the same.

I don't give pity points
I literally give the best answer to who ever deserved it
not who I like or want to help out.
