Yeah.
They find people who are lost is mountains and avalanches. I use to know a police officer and his horse. They found 3 people in a month in the mountains. They use more their ears though. But if they have a trail the will follow it with their nose. It's REALLY funny!

Never heard of them.
Always heard of them using dogs for that and riding the horses to follow the dogs in rough terrain.
