While I agree full-heartedly with you, the people who answered this question must know that people cannot sit around all of their lives on welfare...this is because they are only allowed to recieve benifits for up to 5 years. I personally, am glad to pay a little out of my check to know that the money is going to help someone leff fortunate that i am myself. Those who know about welfare and dont have a gerneralization anout these people will also know that in order to recieve these benefits, they must attend school for higher education or get a part time job before they can even get one check. Yes, its meant for a help up for the betterment of themselves, and it works in most cases.
Now back to the question. Yeah, I think that while they are on welfare, they should not be allowed to have any children because that just adds a burden to the family.

How would you propose to do this, what would you do about large families who need to go on welfare? Sticky wicket I would think.
In some cultures excess children (usually females) were disposed of. Other groups have used unwanted members of the society for medical experimentation, are you advocating something like this? MMMMM, might upset a few people. Forced birth control? Sterilization?
Some countries have NO welfare, excess people without funds die of starvation.

My way of thinking. If you need to go on welfare.
1. You are only allowed to collect for children you have when you apply.
2. You are allowed to be on welfare for a maximum of five years or two years after your youngest child turns five
3. During that two years, you are required to find employment or attend school

Absolutely! Some welfare recipients have more children just to get a bigger check.

Amen brother! I agree wholeheartedly that those who are recieving welfare benefits should not be allowed to have more than 2 kids, and that is being generous....some states have already implemented this system.
I, for one, am sick of working to support someone else's kids, while they sit home and draw a check !!

Well a better way to deal with it is to not increase thier funding if they have more children I think that would be more effective. Trying to force someone to go on birth control is well. . . .illegal. But not increasing their monthly stipend is not and its a great way for them to get the point. I am not against my tax dollars going towards a family that truly needs help, but I am against my tax dollars going to someone who is just lazy and doesn't want to work. Or a better idea is if they continue to get pregnant kick them off welfare. Simple as that.

ok.....now time for my 2 cents.....
I agree to a point....it does take away a person's right to bear children....as many as they actually want....but for those that are doing it JUST to get benefits...makes people like me look bad.
I have 2 kids....2 jobs.....I HAVE to work 2 jobs to support my kids...PLUS I go to school.....& take care of my Mother, who has Cancer.....
I applied for benefits myself...I get $193.00 in Food Stamps & Medicaid for my self & my kids....My Mom gets Medicare....it is only because AFTER all the bills are paid...I dont have the money to pay for food....or medical...
I know for a fact that in order to get benefits....you have to apply at the Workforce Commision & look for a job...they give you 60 days to find a job....or they cut your stuff off....unless you have a child UNDER the age of 4...then you dont have to look for work....BUT....you do have to go to meetings & commit to higher learning....so that when your child does turn 4 & can be put into Pre K....you will have skills to get a job....at least, that is how it is done where I live...
I work both jobs, 32 hrs a wk. & I am struggling...but I also pay in my portion of taxes...so I am paying for my own Food Stamps & Medicaid...to a point...I have been working since I turned 15...I am 32 now...a single Mom...& have paid my taxes...
What irritates me.....some of these people are "generation" welfare recipients....so they really dont know any other way of life...or have no ambition for any other way of life....
As long as they have a job...or recieve child support...they CAN NOT get a monthly check...so some of them dont even try to do anything, but sit on their butts & collect what they consider "free money".....
I want something for my kids....I want something better for myself....so I am going to school to further my career...so I dont have to raise my kids on Food Stamps....or Welfare...I dont want them to have to go through that....
I dont mind paying for someone to feed their kids...IF they truly need it.....but c'mon....be sensible about it.....I met a woman in the DHS office last mo.....she was 24.....has 4 kids & one on the way....none of her kids were over the age of 6...& she was unmarried....unemployed....it bothered me.....none of the Father's...yes, Father's.....paid Child Support.....5 kids & 5 different Father's....in cases like that....Yeah...I say do it....
In other cases where it is a woman who was Married....had kids with her Husband...then circumstances caused her situation....& then finds herself pregnant again...or with another child....that MAY be a little different........
You cant judge everyone on what some people are doing....think of situations, before you make a call on the person's life....
I had my tubes tied the day my Daughter was born...I knew I wasnt going to be able to support another one....My Ex Husband & I were struggling with just one child....my Daughter was a surprise to us...I am glad we decided on just 2....since we are divorced now.....

No. What would be next. In China they could only have 1 child and some parents would kill their girl babies in order to be able to have a son.
