On My great grandmother's death bed I told her I would name my first daughter after her. My grandmother died yesterday morning and I promised her the same.

Maricna Michelle Morgan
we could call her Marci

I am guessing her name was Marcina?? or is it actually Maricna? either way I think it is a nice tradition and if you feel comfortable calling her Marcina/Maricna then do it.

Marci is a lovely nickname : )

I think Morgan is gorgeous. If that is not a name that you like however, you are the one who has to live with the decision. Your great grandmother would have loved whatever you picked.

I think it's pretty. If you or the father have a hard time with using the first name, which I really like, you can always call her by her middle name. My nephew's name is Jansen Alexzander and we call him Alex.

that is a beautiful way to honor their memory! GO for it. it's an uncommon name and your daughter will be honored to carry on a name that represents her heritage.
