The show came out about 15 years ago, and they didn't do CG then. The actor, Matt Frewer, was in makeup to make Max look CG. The origin story was that a television reporter's personality was downloaded/copied and this became a separate entity that lived in a TV network computer. He was goofy and could see out of television screens and interact with viewers. The reporter worked for the network and got help from his computer double when investigating stories. I loved the show, which was quirky and dark and ahead of its time. It was also good science fiction storytelling. Oh, and Max got his name from the writing over a tunnel entrance, which was the last thing the reporter saw before losing consciousness, then being downloaded. So the words were the first that came out of the computer-entity's mouth.

In the post-apocalyptic future where television sets are more important than food, TV ratings are the all important currency of the nation. A new technique of preventing viewers from channel surfing proves somewhat detrimental to particularly sedentary couch potatoes. The top studio becomes concerned: dead viewers make for low ratings. Edison Carter, top news reporter, is sent to find out more. After a motorcycle accident, his mind is preserved by wizz-kid Bryce and becomes his wise cracking, computer generated alter-ego: Max Headroom, who manages to boost ratings above those of any live hosts to date. This made for TV movie was later remade (sanitized version) as the first episode of the series.

Max Headroom is an old television series. He was computer generated. That is about all I remember about the series.
