to meet new friends i suggest if you a student or working to get to know your fellow workers or students better and then you see what fun you can have with the greek people. greek people are very hospitable and if you just start a conversation in no time you be invited to different parties, happenings etc. so go for it and have fun.

OK, i understand that it is difficult for you because you don't have many friends.
For a start, try to visit some museums.Go to Acropolis, Parthenon, learn about our culture.
Then make some trips.Visit some islands that are close to Piraeus like Aegina, Poros etc.
Spend a Saturday morning in the "Athens Mall".Do your Christmas shopping and watch a movie maybe.
In a little while you will learn to live here like the rest of us.
Good luck

Find a hobby, like dancing (look at www.tanguero.gr), a sport, volunteering at therapeutic riding (go to www.trag.gr, etc. and find friends to share those with. In Athens, we do what we do in any place. I mean go to the movies, theatre, go out for food or drinks with friends, do hobbies, spend the night with loved ones at home, and of course sightseeing like museums, exhibitions, concerts, etc. What you need is people to share them with.
