What is the real deal?

I noticed when i went to Pakistan that Muslim men are very affectionate with each other. Holding hands and kissing in the street, but no public affection with women. A very different culture.

Well for sure. The cultures are wide apart.
But you can not form an opinion about a community in just one visit.
People do not show thier affection to women in street does not mean that they do not love thier women.
Remember 100 years ago in USA, Britain and every where else in Europe the same condition was present.
