I have recently been contimplating going back on a chemical BC method and was considering this an option. But I wanted feed back from ladies that have actually taken it. Did you have alot of side effects? Weight loss or gain? How were the mood swings? etc. I must admit the idea of not being doubled over from cramps every month is more than a appealing to me.

I have already done Depo and while I enjoyed not having a period for a year and a half, my doctor at the time pulled me off of it because I wasn't cycling at all, and that was unhealty. I would prefer not to do anything surgical because I don't want/need 10 years of BC, maybe just 2 or 3. Thank you ladies for the responses, keep them comming!

I'm currently doing this and have noticed a few changes. My hunger has gone up, so I've been eating more and gaining weight. Once I realized this, I just cut back and started eating what I used to eat and lost the weight just as quickly. The other major change is the lack of sex drive. It really has plummeted and didn't do this when I was on the patch. Other than that, I love it! It is nice to not have cramps. :)

I have been trying for a hysterectomy because my husband and I have been blessed with 3 children but while we are blessed...we both agree the blessings should stop. My OB would not give me the hysterectomy but instead inserted an IUD...SUPER safe in ways of protection from pregnancy, it is not permanent but the chances of bad cramps are high. the other user suggested the thing that goes in your arm...it is called the Depo Provera. My sis had one and gained 30+ lbs almost immediately. I would not recommend this.
I hope you can find a pill that reduces the number of periods you get in a year that will work with your body. I know there are some out there. Good luck!

I did. I will never take it again. There is more incidences of bleeding/spotting between periods, which i did every week. I'm sure there are some people who take it without a problem. I had to take an additional hormone pill to stop the in between bleeding. I thought the only every 3 month periods sounded great, but I bled more on it than traditional birth control pills

there is the one that goes in the arm , cant think of the name right now but that stops your period all together for three years depending on the women. there might be some spotting until your body adjusts to it and side affects vary as well from weight gain etc. all of these have side affects though no matter which one you go with. implanon, that's it. if i spelt it wrong thats how its pronounced.
