I've got a man "over there" and we don't have kids, so I try to spend more time working. I know, it sounds really lame, but it keeps me busy so I have less time to sit and worry. Sometimes going out with friends makes me miss him more because he's not there to be obnoxious and make sure everyone finishes their drinks, but I realize I can't do this alone and need friends around for the moral support. It helps to connect with other women in our situation because they actually know what it feels like.
Get together frequently with friends and family, pick up some volunteer work, think about going back to school (even if it's just for a few classes), keep in touch with your FRG... And of course, think about him (like it's possible not to?). Write letters whenever you get the chance, plan out the perfect care package. They really need our support, and to be reminded how much we love them. Keep informed, but try not to pay TOO much attention to the news because it only reports the bad stuff that will make you worry more.
Best of luck to you, and happy holidays!

Not a Navy wife, but my husband is in the Army and is deployed and honestly, I do nothing. Don't work, already finished my bachelor's degree. All I do is talk to him online and on the phone, send him packages and write him a letter everyday. And I have never ONCE thought about cheating.

First of all you can read a lot.(if you like reading!)
Second try to find a poor child to help him/her; there are a lot of children that need our help. You can be so useful doing that and your time will be beautifully spent.
