if its plugged into the wall, how long can i keep it running before it overheats?

Hi there...all Mac laptops including the Powerbooks have a heat sync which can handle the extreme temperature the machines emit. However, once the machine reaches a point of possibly overheating the machine will shut down but the fans will continue to run until it cools the machine down enough before the user will be able to resume use. It's a built-in safety mechanism to prevent the machine from destroying data and going into meltdown.

The simple act of plug the AC isn't going to overheat anything, but other factor would; a recent famous episode is Sony recalling its batteries because shorting out. If the PBook was made within manufacturer's spec the previous suggestion is well within margin.

The teacher in our computer classes said all PCs have a safety thing that when they get to hot they will shut down automatically

well it can be measure for exact time
but if u wanna realy know go ahead ant try it out

usually dont let it run for more than 24 hrs constantly
