My heater core on my 88 Chevy S10 Blazer went out and started leaking in the passenger side floor. I don't have the money to replace it so I was wondering can I just remove it and still drive the truck with no problem?

bypass it,disconnect the two black rubber hoses going into it and connect them together you don't need to remove it unless your going to change it
the only thing you will lose is heat
but you need the water to circulate so connect the hoses together

yes it will be ok as long as you plug the hoses at either the heater core or at the thermostat housing.when refilling coolant be sure to add coolant slowly to avoid an air lock in your block, also some vehicles are fitted with a bleed screw on the thermostat housing which could be located at the hose which leads from the block to the inlet at the top of your radiator.once you have plugged the hoses there is no need to remove the heater core.i hope that i have been helpfull.rissole australia.might be a bit chilly in winter though!

It sound such as you have a t-stat that stay open. this might shop you from get warmth. it is going to additionally conceal a leak because of the fact there is far less press on the gadget. the warmth container has a drain tube. it is going to pass to the floor. verify you significant cool cap with a stress attempt. The final one is easy to do. initiate it up and pass to the tail pip. It you smell coolant heavy back there. The you have a blow en head gasket. A open t-stat or a mail radiator cap will conceal this. The cap and cooling gadget could be checked at automobile Zone on occasion. The inlet hose to heater center must be so warm you won't be able to hold it,

Bless your heart! that happened to my son's truck...Chevy S10...must be a thing with them.

It needs to be fixed as soon as you can afford it but as far as any real problems...accept the wet floor...I don't think it will cause any. You will be cold!

I'm sure you will get a better answer but I just know it made my son's truck stink and it was a mess!

The folks who told you to connect the heater cores lines together are correct. If you block them, you will put added pressure on the pump, as there will be no place for it to be recirculated. The supply line is also used to heat intake manifolds on some cars.

yes you can do that, disconnect the heater supply hose, and connect it back into the engine block where the return line hooks up. It will not hurt your truck, you will just not have a heater or heated defroster.

Yes. You can close off the fluid connections, and the car will run fine. But I'd go to an auto graveyard and get a replacement; in most parts of the country, it gets cold.

You can bypass it by connecting the incoming hose to the outgoing hose, but you won't have any heat in the truck until you replace it.
