The world will not end, even after the sun becomes a red giant a few billion years from now. WE will end. Earth will still be here, although lifeless. And how important is this? Debatable.

Several factors will contribute to our death, the most important being:

1. Overpopulation
2. Destruction of environment
3. Weapons technology

Here is my personal prediction:

Barring random events like an asteroid strike, I believe that we will destabilize the environment until it can support only a few of us. Our numbers will fall from 6.7 billion today to about half a billion within the next 2 centuries. Then we'll have a last chance to learn from our mistakes, but we won't. There will be some weapon that gets out of control. And that will be the end of us. I'd say within 500 - 1000 years maximum, maybe much sooner.

This one is a very difficult one to answer. Probably the only one who seriously knows is God. However, if I had to guess, I would be concerned with the continued population growth worldwide. The larger the population becomes, more poverty will increase, leading to hunger, homelessness, and negative attitudes. Also, polution from many sources doesn't help the climate either.

All that said, a stablized population is essential. I have heard the world is going to end by way of fire or water. Maybe or maybe not.

well, in this book i read- the big bang. it says that just like the years of the dinosaurs, there will be a big bang. researches also says that the huge asteroids in space could colide with the earth in the future. actually, the world nor earth is going to end, it is that there will be no life forms- including plants, on earth. thus, the term 'end'. and if this asteroid did not hit the earth, the galaxy we are in- milky way, will just freeze, due to the sun loosing her gas, thus, exploding and either turning into a white dwarf, netron star, red giant, or a black hole.( also from the book i read)

Even though this world may end because of massive influx of water, which seems the most likely route to me, it will not be an end to the world as such...... there would be another world taking the place of this one with even more clever beings knowing a step better to survive........ my logic is the extension of the principles of evolution to the whole universe!!

Define world. Do mean the Human world? The ball of dirt we call earth? The matter that makes up that ball. The gravity holding it together? If something falls to from space to the planet is it then a part of earth. What makes it not earth? There you will have your answer.

If humans don't manage to destroy themselves or the planet first, then we'll die for sure when the sun explodes, scheduled a few tens of trillions of years from now, so don't worry. However, it's really difficult to tell, because at any point in time, an asteroid can change course and head for earth, and it's up to the gods to decide whether or not it makes it to collision or not....

Earth will be destroyed by Vogons to make way for the bypass for an intergalactic freeway. Very tragic. Best way to survive is to stick out your thumb.
