No. I believe they have been indoctrinated with a pure hatred for America that has been so entangled with their religious beliefs that there is no reasoning with "the enemy", in their minds

First of all there is never a legitimate argument for terror either by a country, group or a single person. The definition of terrorism in our day is hastily thrown around at anyone opposing our ways. But this has also been done in the past such as in the French revolution, read it very similar to current situation.
As for reasoning, mostly its a good tool but not always. It works if the big guy uses it on the small terrorist but the small guy can never use it on the big terrorist.

Tell me what you think their argument is then I will tell you if it is legitimate....
The argument now seems to be "you can't exist if you are a Jew"

Excuse: it's all Israel's fault. Certainly, Israel has at times been an obnoxious neighbor, but God help the Arab leaders, propagandists and apologists if a day ever comes when the Arab-Israeli mess is unraveled. One wonders how they would then explain why in Egypt 4 of every 10 people are illiterate; Saudi Arabian Shi'ites (not to mention women) are second-class citizens; 11% of Syrians live below subsistence level; and Jordan's King can unilaterally dissolve Parliament, as he did in 2001. Or why no Middle Eastern government but Israel's and to some extent Lebanon's tolerates freedom of assembly or speech, or democratic institutions like a robust press or civic organizations with independence and clout--let alone unfettered competitive elections.

Are you talking about the U.S., it's invasion, and it's imposing it's way of governance in the Middle East with force at the point of a gun?
As for terrorism per se, it's just a poor man's way of fighting a war or advancing an agenda. What's the difference between a car bomb and a smart bomb? A U.S. anti-tank mine and an IED? People fight with what ever means they have at their disposal.
And yes, anyone can be reasoned with. Except for most religious types. They don't think, they believe.

Naw they can't be reasoned with. Interesting answer AL P So you are saying we are to blame because we are Israel's friend and helped them have arms to defend themselves? And we would have peace if we let the terrorists destroy Israel? And that's what you want? In other words if I have this right if you brought it down to a family situation you would let some thugs kill your neighbor if they promised to leave you and your family alone? Now that's some scary thinking I think. Especially if you really think it's ok for the terrorists to destroy Israel just because they think they are a threat. and that they won't try to destroy us too? All I can say is woozers!!

Umm, people who are from uncivilized countries and are taught to hate cannot be reasoned with. I don't think hating everyone who doesn't practice my religion to be a legitimate argument. We're all different and practice different religions, dress different, listen to different kinds of music, speak different languages and that's what makes us so great because we can and for the most part do live in harmony w/ others who are different.

probably not neither did Hitler but he managed to get most of his nation to march along in goose step and kill a whole hell of a lot more people than any terrorist. A lot more than those 6 million Jews to that was just a drop in the bucket. Upwards of 30-40 million people died cause of Hitler's shenanigans.
sorry i digress.
point is poor desperate people will do damn near anything including listen to a whack job Jew hating fascist and a whack job towel headed cleric.
End the poverty end the problem

It depends on which terrorists you're talking about. If you're referring to Al Qaeda I'd say that they are one of biggest groups of lunatics the world has ever seen. They came up from a group of radicals who had been fighting in the Afghan-Soviet war during the 80's with the intention of forming a group of Jihadists that would defend Islam everywhere in the world, acting much like a military government but without a homeland. The history of the Islamic militant who fantasized about martyrdom is actually relatively recent, coming from a small group of Egyptians who were prosecuted and tortured for opposing the Egyptian government in the 70's. All these men who formed the original group originally wanted to overthrow their own homeland governments. They all fantasized about being martyrs. When they were in Afghanistan fighting for the Mujahideen they were the biggest joke to the Afghani warriors, who simply wanted to liberate their own country from Soviet occupation. The Arab Jihadists wanted to die in battle and thus be sent to collect all that was promised them by the propagandists who'd been tortured in Egyptian prisons. They would set up their tents as close to the battle as possible, when one of them would die the others would gather around his body and cry for his glorious death and pray that they be taken next. To make matters worse they were terrible soldiers. During one particular battle Osama bin Laden was leading a group of 120 men to attempt a flanking maneuver on a Soviet outpost and when one soviet guard heard them coming he single hadedly pinned them down for hours untill they finally had to retreat. When the Soviets pulled out years later guess who took the credit? Bin Laden. He still thinks he's the one who ended the Soviet Union, or actually, that it was the grace of Allah. The one thing that kept these guys together and probably still keeps them together is Osamas money. These guys are wack. Their own countries don't want them anymore because they were starting to kill other Muslims who weren't old fashioned enough. What do you think the world would look like if it were run by women?

Wickipedia definition :
"Terrorist attacks" usually are characterized as "indiscriminate", the "targeting of civilians", or as executed "with disregard for human life". The term "terrorism" often is used to assert that the enemy's political violence is immoral, wanton, and unjustified.
----------------------------------------------
My assessment is that the terrorist mentality is primarily set in the mind of a fanatic, non reasoning, unethical and unmoral individual.
When a person crosses the line and injures the Innocent to justify his grievances, he no longer has any legitimacy to his arguments. You have to remember that psychotics and criminals are people too, but their aberrations are not condoned or justified when they go beyond the limits of decency and morality.

first an foremost - you need to make sure what the definition is of -terrorist. here in South-africa we have a freedom fighter that nearly paid with his life- he was the number one hunted Terrorist in our country.blowing up places and so much stuff i dont think this page would hold all the information. but he did what he had to do - not for himself but for the cause of his race and his people! yes one mans freedom fighter becomes a other man's rerrorist. innocent people died for many years - germany , hiroshima , nakisaki, the list will go on and on and on!! all over the world was war!! to ensure bigger ground areas. recources -oil,diamonds the list will go on and on and on. but what is important>>> why do you fight >> my answer is Nelson Mandela fought for his people.>dignity and to be respected as all humans are the same before God. Bin Laden sacrifice his life and wealth for his religeon to be clean and untouched as 14000 years ago with the same principals of NO ALCOHOL NO PORN and so many religeose stuff that amarica said its moral to do>goverment made it legal. first and foremost make sure who the real terrorist is by finding out what and why he is fighting for. then once you found the source reason then you will be able to know wether their argument is legitimate. Viva Nelson Mandela VIVA! becauce he was called a terrorist but becuase of the world finding out why he fought he become the biggest ICON of modern history and the reciever of the PEASE NOBEL PRICE! IGSHAAN SULLIMAN south-africa.
