Of course memory is a function of the mind. The incidents you are referring to relate to what I would call creative memory ...... something like making different shapes from the same jigsaw pieces of memory in the mind ..... the assembled stuff is indeed never experienced before... yet it is made up from bits and pieces of different experiences.

Yes we do.
Why, unknown. The dream state is unreliable. TV or Book pictures, posters or pictures of anything, as well as our own imagination can make their way into our dreams. Some people have supposed premonitions in their dreams. Others think the genetic code passed from our parents leave trace memories in our minds that enter our dreams. Making a dream connection to a place we've never been before happens, yes. With all the dreams and all the places in the world, the law of averages would ensure it. A dream could be caused by any of the above criteria. Some plauseable, some far fetched. All are Possible even if unlikely. Until we can see someones dreams on a TV and record them we'll never have certain definitive proof of how. And even then we still may never truly know why unless we could record a whole life of visions and dreams to make the analysis.
Man is this way out there or what? Sounds like the twilight zone or something. At least my imagination is working.

You can easily dream about a place you have never seen by using your imagination. In your mind, your brain converts words and feelings into images, which escapes through dreams. Yes, we do remember with our minds. Neurons, which are composed of proteins, are found in the brain and they store memories in the hypothalamus portion of the brain. The more recent the memory, the fresher the path engraved to it by the brain. That;s why reviewing stuff helps you learn it better, and that's why stuff like the multiplication table doesn't take as long to recall as the name of the person you met two weeks ago.

As a dream interpreter, I can tell you that most dreams are given by experience..... So is the purpose of dreaming.... Dreams are pages of our life's story told in a spiritual language.....
When we dream of places we have never seen, it is because the spirit has an interpretation of the way it experiences what we know to be true..... So is the pupose of the imagination.....
The place that we enter when we sleep, is called the kingdom of God (luke 17:21).....** it is not the kingdom of heaven......But, it is the only place that we have ever been to where wonders never cease and there is nothing given the imagination that it can run out of ideas.........
In that place, a camel can indeed go through the eye of a needle.....
