DO NOT STAY AT THE IP! It is the nastiest hotel on the strip. It is old, dark and dirty and becuase it sits on top of the major wash to Lake Mead it smells musty.
For mid range hotels try Excalibur, Luxor, Sahara, Circus Circus, Harrahs

Sounds decent, depending on where you're flying from. The Imperial Palace is definitely not the nicest hotel on the Strip, but it's not as bad as some other posters would have you believe. I've stayed there twice -- only because it was inexpensive -- and it was fine. If your room is dirty or gross, request a different one! The pool is sort of boring but if you're going in the winter you won't want to swim anyway -- too cold in Vegas. The great thing about the pool area (when it's hot out) is that they have a $2 blackjack table poolside! I spent a lot of time there last summer and it was a blast! The location of the Imperial Palace is great -- right across the street from Caesar's Palace -- center Strip. You can walk to better/nicer casinos and dining and just use your room for sleeping. I think that's the way to go. Have a great trip!

where the hell are you coming from? You can usually get weekday rooms for $49, weekend for $69 Dont listen to the snobs, the hotel is good, its not Caesars but if you want a decent room in the middle of the strip its the best. Just stayed there for 7 days last week. Won a ton of money on thier video poker.

Where are you coming from and how many days are you staying? Honestly, it seems like a lot for the Imperial Palace. You could probably find something a little nicer for that price. But if it includes your air fare, then maybe you got a deal.

Ahh, you're flying over Christmas so that may change prices.
travelocity.com and
expedia.com have Las Vegas as one of the choices!
My favorite place to stay is Mirage and/or Treasure Island (TI), and you can walk to many others.
Don't forget Mystere "O" show, and it's the best and the "O" stands for water, and the stage opens and closes. It's expensive but well worth it. At the Bellagio.
Lunches - great - great
Stratosphere -2nd floor revolving restaurant where you at lunchtime can see all over Las Vegas - most amazing great food and great desserts!
Eifel Tower - has great view of Bellagio fountains across the street, and on the 2nd floor. - great desserts and food!
Have a great time, at the end of 6 days (and we did the slots a little) I was ready to come home.
Buses go everywhere for about $1.00. Very convenient and we walked to many places from the Mirage!
GOD bless.

Assuming you are flying 2 hours or more, yes the price is good however......
The Imperial Palace is a dump. Smells bad, poor condition, etc. On the upside, it's location is good.
I usually advise to book your rooms and flight seperately but there are some exceptions.
What are you looking for? Do you have a budget? I suspect that you can do better on those dates, certainly on the room.

I've friends that have stayed there for years at this sametime every year.
It's not the MGM, Cesaers or the Bellagio but who cares if your only going to sleep there anyway.
