Explaining this is gonna be like trying to describe specific colors to a blind person, but I'll try. In astrology we believe that when a person is born the placement of the planets at the moment of the first breath shows how their basic personality will become and major issues the person will have to contend with that will also shape them and how they''ll respond to these things. But there's so many methods of astrology, it's hard to disprove it, because first you can assume that a natal won't match who a person becomes, but what if another astrologers looks at the transits and progressions that going on between a person's chart and the current planets and says that they match current issues for that person? If someone was going to truly disprove astrology, I hope they can live for eternity, because it'll take that long to test each and every one of the hundreds of styles of it and before you could even do that you'd need to master it and truly understand what to look for and what to look at. They call astrology a "pseudoscience" but real has yet to prove that astrology isn't a real science, all they can do is make logical claims for why it shouldn't be possible, but they've never disproven astrology. Also don't listen to ChainLightning. He doesn't know anything about astrology and keeps making up stupid claims against it like "it's all a conspiracy to discriminate again people to keep them from getting jobs". Lunatic. I don't use daily astrology forecasts (what you'd call a "horoscope" which BTW is a birth chart) either, you're right to think a lot of them are made-up and too fatalistic (but they do sometimes hit the nail on the head!) Yeah, a lot of astrologers get into it for silly grandiose mystical nonsense, they ruin it for the rest of us and ruin our credibility (and they're usually not very good astrologers either). Astrological compatibility is based on more than just someone's Sun sign, but a lot of people don't know that. Don't be so mad that your mom and sister don't get along, that might change someday. I think when you learn the effects of the planets, signs, houses and points and actually experience them for yourself, it's amazing; but, believe what you want. I think it's kind of arrogant that we're just short-lived little bits of water, gas and dust and we'd call the planets powerless.

there is alot of misconceptions about astrology. it doesnt predict your future, it however might predict how the way you feel or act that preticular time. it can show what might likely happen if given certain situations, but situations are different for everyone. which is why alot of the mainstream astrology (sun sign astrology) is so vague when it comes to horoscopes. no one knows the situations you are going to be confronted with that day. nor do they know your full "astrological profile"
even in astrology we are all different. i would suggest learning it abit before deciding weather to belive it or not. then you can make a good guess. don't however jump to conclusions.

Astrology is a way of taking symbols and applying them to your life and then interpreting them. Does it make more sense to compare yourself with a modern celebrity or a timeless god or goddess? The ancient gods and goddesses represented certain attributes and talents and tendencies. That's what zodiac symbols are, too. You can learn the different potentials the symbols represent and try to understand them and make them work for you or you could allow someone to say, "here's what your day will be or week or year". The latter would seem more like a jailer to me, because who else could tell you that?

We actually got into the topic at our company christmas party..Somehow astrology came up and we were all talking about what signs everyone is...The funny thing is, many people agree that we don't believe in the future telling part. But, that if we read about our signs, you will see a lot about yourself in it..even the bad parts.

I believe in nothing, for that means to accept it as true without evidence. My mother was a believer and had her horoscopes done many times at some cost. I decided to learn how to do it to save Mom money. I studied at Metaphysical Town Hall in San Francisco and became a competent astrologer. Soon, I saw it was nonsense. That is an expert opinion. Oh well, if Mom wants her chart done, I do it for free. As a "true believer", she ignores glaring errors in horoscopes, just as churchgoers are blind to contradictions in religious teachings.

Astrology is both unreliable and misleading. It could cause us to blame the stars rather than ourselves when we make mistakes. Above all, it is clearly condemned in God’s Word.
Astrology is not a science. Astrologers have not proved effective in predicting significant events. After examining more than 3,000 specific astrological predictions, scientific investigators R. Culver and Philip Ianna came to the conclusion that only 10 percent were accurate. Any well-informed analyst could do better than that.
But it should be rejected not only on the basis of inaccuracy. God's Law stated. “There should not be found in you . . . anyone who employs divination . . . or anyone who looks for omens,” Everybody doing these things is something detestable to Jehovah.”—Deuteronomy 18:10, 12.

Ever heard that Destiny is in our own hands?? Well.. that part is true enough. I believe that the future... that is revelead in astro predictions is only the future that God wants us to see.. and that is the future that he wants us to get altered.
I believe in a masterplan that Godh or rather the Universe has for us.. and whatever happens.. its a part of us reaching that final destiny.. that has been made for Us.

i believe in astrology but i don't believe in horoscopes. have you ever read the description of your sign? you should go to http://www.wikipedia.org and type in whatever your sign is and see if it describes you. my astrological sign (gemini) describes me almost perfectly. it amazes me how similar i am to what it says i am. i do not read my horoscope ever. i believe that most of them are just made up things by people who have no astrological knowledge or ability.
